The Victron Isolation Transformer 7000W eliminates electrical continuity between AC shore power and the boat — protecting against galvanic corrosion and removing the need for a galvanic isolator or polarity alarm.
Key features
- Fully isolates the boat from shore ground — shore power feeds the primary side of the transformer and the boat connects to the secondary, so there's no direct electrical path between them.
- Restores normal safety behaviour — with all metal parts bonded to the transformer's secondary neutral, a GFCI/RCD will trip or a fuse will blow on a genuine short circuit, the way it would on a normal shore connection.
- Prevents galvanic corrosion — without isolation, a boat's shaft, propeller, sacrificial anodes and other underwater metal are at risk of rapid corrosion once connected to shore power.
- Soft start — limits inrush current on power-up so the shore power fuse doesn't blow.
For optimal safety, Victron also recommends bonding the transformer's secondary neutral to ground whenever the boat is out of the water. All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician. Full datasheet.
