Why Pure Energy Lithium Red Label?
Pure Energy Lithium batteries are High Quality, Safe LiFePo4 Deep Cycle batteries. They are a long lasting and lightweight alternative to Lead Acid, AGM & GEL batteries. With Pure Energy Red Label you get ultimate performance and features for about half the price of a comparable brand, so time to make the move to Lithium! Pure Energy Red Label series have active cell balancing on both charge and discharge for maximum performance. They are built with IEC Certified small-diameter cylindrical cells (the highest performing option - ask Tesla), so if you want THE BEST for both performance and value for money in Australia then you have found it.
They are perfect for use in Storing Solar power and providing Deep Cycle power for Lights, Fridges and other loads in Caravans, Motorhomes, Campers, 4×4 and other similar applications. They maintain high voltage right throughout the discharge cycle, unlike most Lead Acid batteries which drop their voltage under load.
Featuring a built in Battery Management System for safety and long-life, Lithium batteries provide much greater usable capacity allowing depths of discharge up to 90% repeatedly with a very high number of charge cycles. They provide approximately 3 – 4 times the cycle life of an AGM which has been discharged to only 50%….and all at roughly half the weight!
Many lithium batteries on the market today use low quality or second-hand cells (often recycled from old laptop batteries). This results in poor performance, poor safety and a much-reduced cycle life. They may offer a long warranty, but we have seen many battery companies pop up and disappear over the last 12+ years, so they are unlikely to be around if you need them!
Pure Energy batteries on the other hand are made with the best materials and this shows in the quality of their construction and high continuous power output. Backed by a 3-year warranty from Every Battery – a name you can trust.
Why Buy Pure Energy from Every Battery?
Reputation Of The Seller
Every Battery has a long reputation for service excellence – with a 5-Star Excellent Rating on the independent review site Trustpilot and similar performance on Google Business rankings. We care about our customers and our reputation, which also underpins the warranty on the products we sell. We have REAL STORES you can visit or call for advice - or you can contact us on 1300 123 228.
Quality Of The Lithium Cells
We don’t use re-cycled (i.e. used) cells reclaimed from other sources such as laptop batteries. Many cheaper models do! Pure Energy batteries are manufactured for us by a top Lithium Manufacturer. They also produce batteries for Telecommunication companies, RV and Military applications.
Quality Of The Battery Management System (BMS)
This can handle high continuous loads, which allows for both peak power when you need it (e.g. trolling motor, electric motor) but also higher continuous current to run inverters etc. The BMS balances and protects the cells inside the battery for optimum performance.
Construction Quality
Pure Energy batteries feature a high-quality external case, and a protective interior for the cells and electronics.
Safety
Even with a BMS in place, internal micro-growths can cause short circuits in some lithium chemistries, leading to thermal run-away (causing fires which are very difficult to put out). With LiFePo4 Chemistry the Pure Lithium is safe to use and does not suffer from thermal runaway.

- Store at 30~50% SOC. Recharging every 3 months is recommended. The storage area should be clean, cool, dry and ventilated.
General Charging & Advice: LiFeP04 Deep Cycle Batteries:
- Many sellers of Lithium batteries use terms like “drop-in replacement” and imply that any old charging method will work. The reality is that Lithium Batteries are sensitive to charge voltages and lose capacity if repeatedly undercharged, trickle charged or overcharged.
- Most battery chargers and alternators can put some power into a Lithium Battery, but only Lithium chargers can fully and safely charge the batteries repeatedly. For example some Lithium batteries only balance the cells at "the top" of the charge cycle, so if the chargers output voltage is not high enough then the strings of cells inside will slowly go out of balance and this can cause big issues.
- Even high-quality AGM Deep Cycle battery chargers which have a high enough voltage to avoid the above (i.e. 14.4 - 14.6V) and therefore can charge the battery can apply high frequency current pulses & damage the BMS if the charger switches into battery recovery mode or desulphation mode.
- The majority of LiFePo4 Batteries are not suitable for use under the bonnet (extreme heat) and are not designed for starting vehicles – i.e. do not have CCA ratings. Call our 1300 123 228 number if you need more information on this, as we can provide some models that do this via special order.
- Lithium Deep Cycle batteries do not like continuous maintenance or trickle charging, and most Lithium Chargers will back off charging completely and drop the voltage to accommodate this. The BMS may also shut off at 2% charge rate but ideally this should not be relied upon.
- The internal BMS will slowly discharge the battery even when it is not in use, or connected to an external load. We therefore recommend using a Lithium Battery charger, and top-up charges every 2 months or so.
- Most over-discharge problems arise from a load being left connected to the battery for several weeks (e.g. in the Caravan small lights will slowly discharge the battery to low voltage). The BMS will then cut off the load, but this happens at 8V so when the vast majority of the power has been discharged. The BMS then continues to take a small amount of charge itself and this can result in over-discharged batteries. Using an external Low-Voltage Disconnect can help in this case, and the period of time that the battery can be left before the BMS "switches off" can be extended, which makes it easier to spot it and get it back onto charge again.
- If the BMS does "switch off" the voltage at the terminals can fluctuate, and depending on the design you may read 0V, or more likely somewhere in the 3 - 8V range of the MOSFET output rather than the usual 13V or more. If you find the battery in this stage, and it has only been like that for a short period, then most good Lithium chargers will work to recover the battery. They trickle charge the BMS at a low current, and then "kick-in" to a normal charge mode (bulk) after a while. Positive biasing the terminals even with a small 9V or 12V battery often has a similar effect, allowing the BMS to open up and charge to be accepted. Some older Redarc and other DC-DC systems will not kick in when the battery has switched off, as they were programmed to see a low voltage state as a fault, hence at the end of the drive your battery will still be flat!
- Note you should never leave the battery for weeks in a discharged state (as above), it may seem to recover ok, but if Lithium Plating has occurred in any of the cells, they are likely to fail prematurely at a later date due to dendritic (spiky internal) growth in the cells. The lesson is to disconnect the loads when you are storing the battery for long periods, plus use a Low Voltage Disconnect which cuts in well before the BMS has to, and if it does get over-discharged then put it back onto the charger within ideally a week or two.
- Finally - Important note!!! Do not charge the battery below 0C (Freezing). All LiFePo4 batteries can power loads below freezing, but they should not be charged at temperatures below 0C. The BMS is programmed to prevent this, but again its best to avoid the possibility by keeping the battery inside (under a seat or bed would be ideal). If you do need to use the batteries in extreme cold there are versions available which use some of their capacity to power internal heating elements, call us if you need to know more on 1300 123 228. Without this heating element you can quickly damage the batteries if you charge them below 0C, and the higher the current used to charge it the worse the effect.
