Your 12V system is only safe with the correct fusing and no fuse is more important than the main battery fuse. If your batteries do not have a master fus then you NEED to install one to prevent short circuit fires.
This terminal mount fuse is super easy to install, bolting direct to the positive terminal of your deep cycle battery.
Whate size fuse do I need?
The fuse is rated according to the maxiumum draw form the battery. Usually this is the surge from your inverter, so is you have a 500/1000W inverter attached, the peak draw will be 83A (1000W / 12V = 83A). If you are running DC loads only, add up the amp rating of all devices and multiply by 1.2. The pick the nearst fuse size upwards from that number. Eg: Fridge 3A, Lights 2.5A, Fishfinder 0.5A = 6A total draw. 6A x1.2 = 7.2, round up to a 10A fuse.
